✍️ Communicate Effectively
We over-communicate with clients, each other, and everyone else so that everything is clear.
We do this through regular coaching meetings, our discussions with clients, and the other teammates. This means we over-communicate with clients (in writing!), take detailed notes so that we can enjoy vacations, be honest with each other, and ensure that our clients never ask for updates.
This also means we need to tell clients what they need to hear, not what they want to hear.
🔬 Consider the Small Things
We’re often worried about the big things, but our clients pay close attention to the small things.
Our clients expect us to do what we say we’re going to do, including calling them on time, billing them when we say we will, and ensuring that we follow the expectations we’ve set with them.
We also trust but verify each other, our clients, and anyone else we work with. This doesn’t mean we doubt each other; it means we double-check ourselves, our teammates, and our clients, and communicate when there’s any uncertainty.

We leverage technology to deliver exceptional value to our clients and make our lives easier.
Many lawyers operate within a silo and only keep things in their heads (even when they’re in large law firms). This means it’s harder for the team to help ensure that work gets done on time and as promised. This also means that many lawyers typically “work” while on vacation.
If technology is not making our lives easier, we need to fix that. When there’s an issue that is repetitive and consistent, how do we automate it? We suggest and implement improvements to our processes as we see them (or, if we’re unsure of the “fix,” we bring it up!).
🏖 Live your Best Life
We take care of each other and maximize our work-life balance because burnout is a common problem in the legal industry, and we want to prevent that.
Our most valuable (and expensive!) asset is its people, so we should invest in their health and happiness.
This means that when we’re on vacation, we’re on vacation. When we’re sick, we’re resting. If we need to take time off during the day, we can.
Our first three Core Values help us achieve this: We’re documenting our notes (Effective Communication), updating project plans (Geeking Out), and ensuring that little tidbits aren’t missed (Small Things) all so that someone else can help us.
